How to use a kit
What you need
- Claude Code installed and signed in.
- Node.js 20 or newer (
node -vto check). - A computer that can render video locally. The first render downloads a headless browser, so leave a few minutes and some disk space.
- Your footage: phone video is fine. Vertical (9:16) clips give the best result.
1. Download the kit
After payment, your kits appear in your account and a link arrives by email. Each license allows a limited number of downloads, and each download link works for a few minutes — download once and keep the zip.
2. Unzip and add your clips
Unzip the archive somewhere convenient and put your footage in the clips folder:
kinetic-type/
SKILL.md ← instructions Claude follows
LICENSE.txt
clips/ ← put your videos here
template/ ← Remotion project
sfx/ fonts/ luts/3. Open the folder in Claude Code
cd kinetic-type
claudeStart Claude Code inside the kit folder. The kit's instructions (SKILL.md, or CLAUDE.md in some kits) describe how to cut, caption and render with this template. If Claude doesn't mention them, start with: Read SKILL.md and follow it.
4. Describe the video
Say what you want in plain language. Be specific about length, pacing and text:
Cut my clips into a 30-second reel with word-by-word captions in yellow.Use the three best takes, add a whoosh on each cut, end on a title card that says “Out now”.Make a 15-second version for TikTok and a 45-second version for Reels.
Claude edits the template, installs its dependencies on first run and renders with Remotion. Finished files land in the kit's output folder (the instructions name it) as 1080×1920 MP4.
5. Iterate
Ask for changes the way you'd brief an editor: Make the captions smaller, Swap the second and third clips, Less shake on the zooms. Claude re-renders after each change.
Troubleshooting
- Render fails on first run — run
npm installinsidetemplate/, then ask Claude to render again. - Out of memory or very slow — ask for a lower-resolution preview first, then the final render.
- Clips not found — check they're inside
clips/and use common formats (MP4, MOV). - Download link expired — request a new one from your account; it doesn't use up a download until you click it.
